We have a gorgeous little puppy - a Lhasa Apso named Bella - and she might as well be a human, we love her that much. :) We are also very family-oriented and spend lots of time with both sides of our families. Lucky for us, both our parents have been happily married for over 25 years - something we definitely aspire to reach in one piece! We love our families and all that they represent to us. We also have tons of great friends (who I KNOW are following my every word on this blog) - and we love them dearly as well!
Before we got married, I had already made up my mind that I hated cooking and that I would not be cooking on a very regular basis. You see, my dad was the chef in our house - he LOVES to cook - and my mom isn't really big on cooking for daily life (but she does a mean Thanksgiving spread). Eddie and I had countless disagreements about this, but in the end we decided we'd just figure it out as we went along.
Well lucky him that I don't do anything without putting 100% effort into it, I guess. Because I have enjoyed making each and every single meal that I have made for him. I also recently started to explore the world of baking, and I'm smitten. If you believe it, I actually told Eddie that the next time he needs to get me a present of some kind, I'd like to take some cooking classes or something of the sort. Seriously!
Photography has always been a hobby of mine... something else I share with my dad. I was always borrowing his SLR cameras and finally decided to get my own a few years ago. For a while that camera did not leave my side. I still love taking pictures, so I do that as often as I can. I am the yearbook moderator at my school, and that's one of the places where I get some of my best shots - I love taking pictures of children. They're so natural. They don't need retouching, or prompting, or prodding. You can take photos of them as they are and never worry about how the shot will turn out. :) Unfortunately, I can't post photos of my students on here, but I will post plenty of others. ;)
Teaching... is in my blood. What can I say? My parents are both in education, and although I fought it for a while - I don't think there is anything else I'd rather be doing with my life. The ups and downs of each day and the daily struggle to "get through" to my kids make it the most challenging, sobering, and rewarding profession I could ever picture myself in. I really love my little punks (but don't tell them I said so).
In a nutshell, that's a little bit about me. I don't think I could ever really explain myself (I don't think anyone could explain themselves) - but as you continue to read, I'm sure you will discover little bits and pieces about me. I might even discover a few things about myself along the way.
xoxo,
Jen
